Centrifugal separators are engineered to effectively remove solids with a specific gravity at least 1.5 times greater than the carrying liquid. Liquid enters the unit tangentially, generating a strong centrifugal flow, enhanced by a specially designed top inlet for added acceleration. Centrifugal force pushes particles to the chamber walls, where solids gradually settle into the quiet collection chamber. Clean liquid rises through the vortex and exits via the top outlet, while solids are either purged periodically or continuously from the collection chamber.
With no moving parts, centrifugal separators require minimal maintenance and ensure predictable, steady pressure loss that varies only with flow rate. They also minimize liquid loss during solids purging and can be equipped with an optional recovery vessel to eliminate liquid loss entirely.
