Micro drum filters are a type of filtration system commonly used in applications such as aquaculture, wastewater treatment, and industrial processes to remove fine suspended solids from water.
Water flows by gravity into the drum filter, which contains a rotating cylindrical drum covered with a fine mesh or screen. The mesh traps solids, while clean water passes through. As the drum rotates, the solids accumulate on the inner surface of the mesh. These filters are featured an automatic cleaning process, where high-pressure water jets spray the drum’s mesh from the outside, dislodging the trapped particles and flushing them into a waste collection channel. This cleaning process happens without interrupting the filtration flow.
Unlike pressurized filters, non-pressurized drum filters rely on gravity for water flow. This design reduces energy consumption as no external pressure pumps are needed. The system operates with low head loss, making it energy-efficient.
